All students are welcomed and encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities. Students are even encouraged to create new clubs or activities, which may contribute to their personalized learning plan.

Co-Curricular activities are safe, fun, social atmospheres to participate in. Growing student's passions for different activities beyond our daily lessons.

Astronomy Club

Discover more about the universe around us through astronomy. Work with telescopes and other astronomy observational equipment. Learn about documenting space through astrophotography and maintaining the equipment to continue enjoying the stars above.

Athletic Leadership Council

The Athletic Leadership Council (ALC) is focused on building a strong community on and off the field by uniting our athletic teams, families and friends. We will strive to foster pride, positivity and respect throughout our community both in school and during competitions. We will uphold and recognize the value of integrity, sportsmanship and responsibility. We are committed to lifelong wellness with an emphasis on positive decision making. We will succeed as a group through leadership training, service opportunities, and the practice of bringing various schools together while working towards a common vision to benefit society. We will continue to build an athletic program built on equity and education while creating an environment that allows students to succeed now and in the future.

GSA

The Rainbow Alliance is a safe, supportive space that brings opportunity for change while honoring individuality and confidentiality. It’s much more than a GSA (Gender & Sexuality Alliance); it’s an open community for all who support progress. Some days when we meet, we sit around and talk about our lives, so when we say we’re also a safe space to hang out, we mean it. Bring your ideas for change and your Netflix suggestions. Our doors are open to anyone who supports individuality and equity.

International Club

We'll explore other cultures and traditions from around the world. We cook recipes and try food from these cultures, learn about these cultures through movies and TV shows. We also maintain the hydroponics system located upstairs in the square that was grant-funded partly through the German government and Goethe Institut in 2019. Students took part in a conference in Chicago then designed, built, and created a documentary about the experience. We also plan a day trip for late May to Montreal where we visit the city and explore the different cultures within the city (you do NOT need a passport to go! just a birth certificate from the US). Lastly, we also plan international trips for after school ends that are 8-12 days long. These trips usually cost between 3000-4000$ per student and there are some fundraising opportunities.

Marine Science & Diving Club

The MHS Marine Science and Diving Club aims to introduce and share the wonders of the seven seas with students. We will explore marine biology, marine ecology, oceanography, sustainability, and global warming. Students will also have the opportunity to become dive certified as well as participate in a week-long research trip annually.

Mock Trial Club

The MHS Mock Trial Team gives students an opportunity to explore the U.S. legal system through a pretend trial. Students play the parts of lawyers and witnesses in a mini-trial, and they learn about topics like burdens of proof, evidence, and litigation tactics. Our team represents its assigned side against teams from other Vermont high schools in front of judges and attorneys from around the state. Preparation usually begins with weekly meetings in January when the trial information is released, and it culminates in the state competition, which is usually held in late March or early April. 

Neuroscience

Are you interested in how the brain works? If so, then this club will introduce you to the exciting field of neuroscience. This student-led club will give you the opportunity to gain insight and knowledge into the structure and function of the brain and nervous system, how the brain processes information and communicates responses, diseases and disorders, and current research and technology. Students may be able to receive academic credit in this alternative learning pathway. In February of each year, students are encouraged to compete in the Vermont Brain Bee competition with other students from schools across Vermont. Winners of the Vermont Brain Bee competition are then eligible to compete in the national competition. Through this club, you will also have access to membership to the International Youth Neuroscience Association

Newspaper (Blue & Gold)

It's called the Blue & Gold, our proud school colors. And as proud as we are of our school, we are even more honored by our student voices. Join Blue & Gold, the MHS newspaper, and report on school happenings, community activities, and world events. In Blue and Gold, students have a say and get their ideas and opinions expressed.

Robotics

Want to learn Programming? Engineering? Business Management? 3D Printing? Check out the MHS Robotics Team.

Each year, the MHS Robotics Team works together to build a robot that will compete in the VT FIRST Tech Challenge. Students are responsible for designing, building, programming, testing, and marketing their robots. The rules of the competition change from year to year, but the reward is always a spot in the international (yes, worldwide) competition in the Spring. The team is open to students in grades 9-12; no experience is necessary.

Theatre

Looking to be a part of an award-winning program? Want to show off your talents on stage or behind the scenes? Join the MHS Theatre Company! MHS Theatre Company has been giving students real-world on-stage experiences in a program that has been recognized in Vermont and throughout New England for producing high-quality entertaining original student productions. From classics like Chicago and J.C. Superstar to original adaptations of Beowulf, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Moby Dick, students have showcased their talents all over New England and have been awarded six state championships at the Vermont State Drama Festival.

This year, MHS Theatre is producing Footloose for its fall musical. Anyone interested in participating in the fall musical or One-Act Festival should contact [email protected] for more information. Rehearsals for the musical begin in September and for the One-Act Festival, auditions will be held in December.
