To: All MTSD Families
From: Amy Rex, Superintendent
We hope this letter finds you and your family well. As we continue to work towards providing the best educational experience for our students, we want to inform you of two recent changes that have presented challenges and the steps we are taking to address them.
Changes and Challenges
-
Reduction in Bus Routes
A reduction in the number of buses has resulted in longer travel times, causing some buses to arrive at Milton Elementary School 10-15 after dismissal time. -
Revised School Start and End Times
Recent adjustments to our school start and end times did not take into account the amount of time it takes to dismiss and load 600 elementary age students on buses.
Impact on Students
These changes have made it difficult to ensure that all students are properly supervised and promptly transported home after dismissal. We understand the importance of maintaining safety and ensuring a timely dismissal process, and we are committed to addressing these challenges effectively.
Proposed Solutions
To ensure students get on buses safely and arrive home without significant delays, we are implementing the following adjustments beginning Monday, December 2, 2024
-
MHS will dismiss at 2:20
-
MMS will dismiss at 2:30
-
MES will begin the dismissal process around 3:20 and buses will depart at 3:40.
The earlier MHS/MMS dismissal will allow buses additional time to arrive at MES for a 3:40 departure.
Next Steps
We ask for your understanding and support as we implement these changes. Please review the adjustments with your child and encourage them to follow dismissal procedures.
Your feedback is invaluable as we continue to improve transportation services. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s bus coordinator outlined below:
