REMINDER

We invite the families of all 9th-grade students and students new to MHS to our Welcome BBQ. This event will take place tomorrow night (Monday) at 6:00 PM. We will meet up in our cafeteria for some burgers and dogs. We will then gather just outside the cafeteria to introduce our teachers, student support team, and administrators. This is not a mandatory event, but it is a great way to get your student in the building and connecting with our staff.

Even if 9th-grade families cannot join us for the BBQ, we highly encourage all 9th-grade students to attend our special orientation half-day on Tuesday, August 25th. Bus service will be provided to and from school. It will be a special half-day schedule from 7:30 - 11:30. 9th-grade students will get to settle into school, meet their teachers, better understand their schedule, and open their lockers. Lunch will be served before we dismiss at 11:30.

We look forward to meeting you and your students in the coming days!

Dear Families,

The school bus pickup and drop-off times will be posted on the school websites by 5 pm on Friday, August 21st. These times are estimated based on the most current information we have regarding ridership.

During the first few weeks of school, actual bus pick up and drop off times may vary from the scheduled time by up to 15 minutes due to several daily factors:

  • Changing Ridership:

    • At the start of the school year, families are still making decisions regarding school transportation.

    • We still have families moving in and out of the District

As a result, on some days we have fewer students which speeds up the route, while on other days we have more students which takes longer.

  • Traffic & Construction:

    • Bus drivers are still learning the patterns of local roadwork and daily commuter traffic which could cause them to be either early or late

Schedules will become much more consistent after these initial weeks.

We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we kick off the school year!

We want to thank everyone within our community who participated in our Summer Meals Program this year. MTSD is proud to share that we served over 50,000 meals throughout the summer. We would also like to thank our partners who helped make this program possible: Milton Recreation and Parks Department, New England Dairy and Food Council, Hunger Free Vermont, Performance Food Group, and the Vermont Agency of Education. Thanks again and we wish you a successful transition back to school!

MTSD Families,

As we prepare for the school year, we are pleased to share our MTSD Student Handbook - the primary family resource for all district-wide policies, procedures, and expectations that apply consistently to every student across all three schools.
To ensure you and your student have all the information you need, please take note of how the handbook is structured:

  • District-Wide Policies: Please review the District Table of Contents. This section contains essential policies, guidelines, and rights that govern all students throughout the entire school district.

  • School-Specific Information: Within the main document, you will find direct links to the individual school handbooks. It is important to click the link for your child’s specific school to review details tailored to their buildings such as daily schedules, arrival/dismissal procedures, and campus-specific rules.

Taking time to review both the broader district policies and your school's specific section will help ensure a smooth, informed, and successful school year for your family. If you need a hardcopy, please contact District Office at 893-5302.

*** LOCATION UPDATE **** To help alleviate traffic, the truck is FARTHER down the road within the park. Just because you don’t see the truck from the road doesn’t mean we’re out of meal kits!

TOMORROW August 13th is our LAST meal kit drive-thru distribution day of the summer! Last week we still had boxes at 1:30, and there was zero wait for boxes after 12:30. Yes, there is quite a line at noon, but plenty of boxes are available after 12:30 with zero wait. FREE meal kits (one kit per child aged 18 and under) containing the equivalent of 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, and a gallon of milk. Kits are available at Bombardier Park West on a first come, first serve basis rain or shine. No registration required. These meals are not intended for children receiving free meals in summer school or summer camp. We look forward to seeing you there!

TOMORROW July 30th is our weekly meal kit drive-thru distribution day! FREE meal kits (one kit per child aged 18 and under) containing the equivalent of 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, and a gallon of milk. Kits are available at Bombardier Park West on a first come, first serve basis rain or shine. No registration required. IMPORTANT MEAL KIT INFORMATION: With the construction on Route 7 already causing delays, we can't be adding to the local gridlock. Yes, this is a first-come, first-served program, but for the fourth week in a row, everyone who arrived before 12:45 received their meal kits. People lining up at 11 are waiting an hour for a box, but those arriving between 12:15 and 12:30 have been waiting 5-10 minutes. In an effort to reduce traffic congestion caused by people arriving before 11:45, we ask you to please consider arriving later, which will save you time and also gas by avoiding an hour of idling in the summer heat.

MMS and MHS Families,

We ask that you fill out this short Transportation Survey for each of your middle and high school students. We request a submission for every student by Wednesday, August 5th.

Your input on this survey helps us to create our bus routes for the school year. We want these routes to be as efficient and inclusive as possible. Even if your student rarely (or never) rides the bus, please provide us with an AM and PM address. This will ensure that any student who ever needs the bus will be included on a route.

Many thanks,

MMS and MHS Leaders

☀️Summer Wellness Series: Keep Summer Sleep Habits on Track! 😴

Summer brings more free time and flexible schedules, but healthy sleep is still essential for growing minds and bodies.

The National Sleep Foundation recommends:
🛏️ Ages 6–13: 9–11 hours of sleep each night
🛏️ Ages 14–17: 8–10 hours of sleep each night

If your child isn't getting enough sleep, talk with your pediatrician. In many cases, simple changes to bedtime routines can make a big difference.

Tips for better sleep:
• Stick to a consistent bedtime-even during summer.
• Create a calm, relaxing bedtime routine.
• Turn off TVs, tablets, phones, and other screens before bed.
• Help your child wind down with reading, quiet music, or other relaxing activities.

Healthy sleep helps children learn, grow, and enjoy all the fun that summer has to offer!☀️
