From: Amy Rex, Superintendent and Scott Sivo, Principal
On Saturday, October 4, 2025 two individuals entered the Milton High School property on foot and vandalized the student art installation located on the electrical box by the main entrance. This piece displayed Black Lives Matter and the MHS HIVE symbol. Together, these represent the interconnectedness of our community at MHS and we are deeply saddened that an individual/s would threaten that.
We strongly condemn this transgression against our community, and we understand it can evoke a range of emotions. Thus, our focus remains squarely on our response and on reinforcing our commitment to a safe and inclusive school community for all students and staff.
At MTSD, our mission is rooted in recognizing the uniqueness of every scholar and nurturing their potential to grow into who they are and aspire to be. We are committed to seeing each of our students as individuals, valued for their unique stories, dreams, and strengths. Our priority is to ensure that our students are supported, affirmed, and that our schools remain safe places of learning and growth.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Milton Police. We will keep you updated as we learn more. If you have any information regarding this incident, please share it with us or contact Corporal Jason Porter of the Milton Police.
While that investigation continues, the focus of our Milton High School students, staff, and administration will be restoring the mural as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please reach out to Scott Sivo (ssivo@mymtsd-vt.org).
Sincerely,
Amy Rex and Scott Sivo
